“As with any relationship built on mutual respect and trust, open communication will help the relationship grow and prosper. We want more than that when it comes to our customer relationships.”

Meet Calvin Williams

I’ve lived in Oregon, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. Calvin Williams is a thoroughly Michigander. After attending high school in South Lyon, Williams graduated from Central Michigan University and has been coming to Lansing ever since.

His interest in technology was fully formed in 2004 when college friends introduced him to World of Warcraft. I’ve played video games since I was a kid, but I’ve never built a gaming computer. As soon as Williams learned how to build a PC, he was hooked.

Williams has managed the customer success team at Liquid Web for the past two years.

Why did you join Liquidweb?

I had heard the buzz about Liquid Web’s company culture and knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. I first applied to the Liquid Web team in 2011, but was not accepted. So I tried again the following year. I persevered thanks to some local friends who work at Liquid Web, and the job sounded appealing.

Why are you drawn to the hosting industry as a career?

The hosting industry is a very big pie with many flavors. One size does not fit all here, and there are many obstacles and challenges that many organizations ultimately want to establish online presence face. Hosting, to me, is an often overlooked aspect of my online presence, but it’s the most important. This is the foundation for each organization to establish availability for the clients it wants to reach.

Is there anything special about Liquid Web that you like?

Beyond DC3’s phenomenal coffee machine and endless LaCroix? but really, Liquid Web has allowed me to grow and learn throughout my career. I love the support I’ve received here.

What’s your favorite part of Liquid Web’s company culture?

My favorite part is that we truly try to embody and practice the human element of our work. Our customers and colleagues are people, and we do our best not to forget that. We live in a way that favors our customers in disaster areas.

What is the difference between Liquid Web and other employers in your eyes?

We are a growing company and additional oversight, ideas and voices may come as we grow, but Liquid Web is where new ideas are embraced and implemented to provide a better experience to our customers.

Tell us about an amazing customer experience you’ve had with Liquid Web.

My favorite experience was when I traveled to Portland, Oregon to visit one of our biggest clients a few years before Covid. At the time, the client had several large projects in the works, and growing frustration slowed progress. Meeting them face-to-face by name made a 180 degree change, allowing us to work with the client and get the project done.

What are you known for on Liquid Web? What specifically do people come to you for?

When it comes to customer success, people come to me for a variety of reasons, especially when it comes to impacting customers. May I be best known for always being helpful and helping anyone in need.

What is one thing you wish your customers knew about hosting?

The key to a successful stay with Liquid Web is a strong partnership with your account executive and client success manager. As with any relationship built on mutual respect and trust, open communication will help your relationship grow and prosper. We want nothing less when it comes to our customer relationships as well.

What is your nickname on Liquid Web and why?

It’s not a Liquid Web nickname, but My family and close friends call me Dewey.

Work aside, what are your hobbies?

I am a person with many hobbiesPlaying music (saxophone and drums), biking, playing PC games, and most recently, disc golf.

What’s your favorite TV show?
